Why isn't my mushroom kit fruiting? (and how to fix it)
A mushroom kit that won't fruit is almost always too dry, too warm, or short on fresh air. Mist the cut surface more often to keep it damp, move it to 65–75°F out of direct sun, and give it gentle airflow. Pins usually appear within a week of fixing the conditions — and if they don't, our Grow Guarantee replaces the kit free.

Step by step
- 01Check the moistureThe most common cause. The cut surface should look damp, never dry or cracked. Mist two to three times a day; oysters especially love humidity.
- 02Check the temperature65–75°F is the sweet spot. Above ~80°F fruiting stalls. Move the block somewhere cooler and out of direct sun.
- 03Add fresh airLong stems with tiny caps means too much CO₂. Crack a window or move the block to a spot with gentle air movement.
- 04Give it timeA very fresh block may still be finishing colonization. If the block is mostly white, wait a few more days after cutting before expecting pins.
- 05Rule out contaminationFuzzy green, black, or slimy patches with an off smell mean contamination — don't eat it. That's covered too: text us for a free replacement.

How long should a mushroom kit take to fruit?
Under good conditions, pinhead mushrooms appear within 5–10 days of cutting the bag. If a full week of proper moisture, temperature, and airflow brings nothing, something's off — reach out.
